Billy Townsend beat Leslie Wildcat Carter by TKO in round 2 of 6
- Date: 1929-08-27
- Location: Civic Ice Arena, Seattle, Washington, USA
- Referee: Harold Jones
"Wilting under the avalanche of blows handed him ... [Carter] was completely tamed before 4000 fans attending a card staged for the Seattle Press Club. Met by a storm of rights and lefts from the start, Carter fell to the canvas four times. At the end of the second round he was supported only by the ropes in his corner.... [And, from a companion article on the same newspaper page:] This colored lad, only 19, was a shadow of the once feared Wildcat. Little of his old class was shown and the rain of blows sent in by the Vancouver fighter, who is himself only 20, were by no accident. The Everett boy looked like training rules had not been followed too strictly, while Townsend was in the best of form and at all time confident." Everett Daily Herald.
