Benson battered Vaughn in the first two rounds, having him cut on the eyebrow and forehead, and bleeding from the nose. Vaughn woke up in the 3rd round, and floored Benson for an eight-count with a right hand to the jaw. Vaughn went for the finish, and became so exhausted that he went to the wrong corner, when the round ended. In the 4th round, Vaughn again tore after Benson, before eventually catching him near the end of the round.
