Hermosillo won the first three round, but Payne was in control after that. At the end of the 7th round, Payne hurt Hermosillo with a right hand that had him reeling along the ropes. After being helped to his corner to end the previous round, and a brief exchange, Hermsillo was knocked out with a right hand to the jaw.
