Joe "Rafiu" King, Nigeria, 128 1/2, one of the best featherweights in the world, gave a great performance in defeating Harry Floyd Smith, U.S.A., 129, in a fast hitting eight. After the first, Smith turned "Southpaw" and took King by surprise with his attacks, but the canny Nigerian always seemed to have the answers to everything that Smith showed, for the fast two handed body blows of King almost had the American on the verge of a knockout, but the latter fought back with great courage to everyone's surprise. Reported by Johnny Sharpe, page 60 July 1961 issue of The Ring Magazine.
