Leslie Wildcat Carter lost to Tommy Fielding by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1930-01-11
  • Location: Tillicum Gymnasium, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
  • Referee: Roy Baker 2-3

Fielding rushed out of his corner throwing punches at Carter, who was trying to dance on his toes. Fielding landed a straight left to the chin, that dropped Carter for no-count. After Carter got up, he tried to clinch but was sent to the canvas for a second time for an eight-count. Carter fought better after the 1st round, as Fielding reverted to his normal bob-and-weave style. Fielding hurt Carter again in the 7th round along the ropes. The two were tired in the last three rounds. The referee gave Fielding three rounds, Carter two, and scored five even.

Held at the Tillicum Gymnasium under the auspices of the Central Boxing Club. Joe Bayley, ex-Lightweight Champion of Canada, had sought an injunction to stop the bout, claiming he had a contract with Fielding.
