"The meteor like rise of [Lee] struck a snag here last night.... Carter, in fine shape, started the fighting off with a right to Lee's jaw that sent the China boy down for the count of nine. Lee went down twice again and the bell saved him from another." Everett Daily Herald. The Seattle Times reported that Lee was down three times in the 1st round, three times in the 2nd round. He was down once in the 3rd, before Carter put him down for the count. As he was going down for the count he did land a southpaw hook that staggered Carter.
