Smith had Jolson hurt badly at the end of the first round. Jolson recovered to carry the fight to Smith over the next two rounds. Smith, however, hurt Jolson again in the 4th and 5th rounds. Though Smith was unable to put Jolson down, the referee stopped the bout.
