Randy Sandy 153 lbs lost to Willie Troy 159 lbs by KO at 0:50 in round 7 of 10
- Date: 1953-11-11
- Location: Turner's Arena, Washington, District of Columbia, USA
The Washington youngster looked every bit a champion last night in knocking out highly regarded Randy Sandy of New York at 50 seconds of the seventh round. Boxing cleverly, Troy stalked Sandy from the second round on and finally found his opening in the fifth. A solid left hook staggered Sandy, at 153 outweighed by 4 ½ pounds. Troy caught him early in the sixth with a long right smash that knocked Sandy halfway across the ring. But the game New Yorker hung on through a two-fisted assault. He couldn’t get away fast enough in the seventh. A short left uppercut caught Sandy squarely on the chin. He reeled against the ropes and went down on his back.
