According to the Los Angeles Times, the crowd began rioting after the decision went against Gomez. The ring was bombarded by bottles, coins, beer cups, and other debrise. Gomez's trainer Adelo Hernandez sustained a possible broken leg and judge George Latka was hit in the shoulder by a bottle. Latka in fact was the only judge to have scored for Gomez.
