This was a close fight, won by Kochan on a 4th round knockdown of Cocoa Kid, as both judges split, with referee Leonard giving the nod to Kochan, despite having the bout 4-4-1 in rounds. Cocoa Kid won the first two rounds, before Kochan turned the fight around in the 4th, when he dropped Cocoa Kid for a nine-count. Cocoa Kid took the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds, but Kochan swept the last three, as he nearly dropped Cocoa Kid in the 9th round.
