This bout was fairly even going into the 8th round, per the Idaho Statesman. Lane would scored two knockdowns in the 8th round, with Rhodes being saved by the bell after the later knockdown. Lane continued to pound Rhodes over the last two rounds, scoring two more knockdowns, even though Rhodes was given a five-minute rest in between after an unintentional foul by Lane.
