Young chased Hoshino around the ring for much of fight, as he built a substantial lead in the bout. Hoshino had shaken Young with a right hand to the jaw in the 1st round, but seemed to lay back after that. In the 8th round, Hoshino dropped Young's hands with a couple body blows, before shooting over a right to the jaw. Young dropped hard, with his head hitting the floor with a thud. Young attempted to rise to no avail.
