"The end in that fight came at 2 minutes 3 seconds of the sixth round when Escalera, defending his World Boxing Council championship for the eighth time, caught McGarvey with a straight right to the chin.

Referee Abraham Chavarria, of Mexico, gave McGarvey an 8-count and, after the challenger had regained his feet, stopped the fight on a T.K.O.

McGarvey was bleeding badly above his right eye, and the fight had been held up momentarily earlier in the round while ring doctors inspected the cut. McGarvey received the cut in the fourth round."
