This fight was for the vacant NBA heavyweight championship. It was also rumoured to be a pre-eliminator for WBC/WBA/IBF who had Henry Akinwande as their number one contender for Lennox Lewis. Halme bragged before the fight that if he wins this, he would face Akinwande, and after winning him, face Lewis for the world titles. Finland never got it´s first heavyweight world champ though, as Halme fell to Kingbo´s huge hook in round 2 after taunting and dominating him through the first round. Halme broke his hand in the process.
