Hostak did little fighting in the first three rounds, as he mostly covered up and rolled away from La Rue's punches. In the 4th round, Hostak began unloading his left hook, pummeling La Rue. In the 5th round, Hostak continued punishing La Rue with the left hook and right hand. Hostak did little in the 6th round, as the two boxed an even round. Hostak unloaded on La Rue in the 7th round, eventually dropping him with a left hook. Hostak again pounded La Rue in the 8th and final round.
