Phelps gave Lenhart a one-sided beating as he put him down a dozen times in the first four rounds. Phelps continued to win every round, and after he dropped Lenhart again in the 12th, Lenhart's corner stopped the bout. Lenhart took the bout on short notice, and had arrived via train the morning of the bout.
