This was a hard-fought bout. Powell had the better of it in the first four rounds, but (on instructions from his corner) swapped his aggressive attack for an attempt to outbox Cabanela. He was floored in the sixth round and was outpointed in every round from the fifth to the ninth, but opened up again to win round ten. "Both boys received a terrific ovation.."
