He dropped Torres for an eight count with a similar punch in the 1st round, but was slightly stunned by Torres, 139, in the 3rd round." -Associated Press

• The UPI reported that the only thing preventing Torres, the #5 contender for the lightweight title, from engaging Brown with the title on the line was his age. It was stated that NBA states, including Texas, specify that a challenger must be 21 years of age. Thus, it was a non-title bout.
