• Earl Fisher of Dayton, Ohio, defeated Joe Mandot of New Orleans in a ten-round bout here this afternoon. Fisher won six of the rounds, while two were even. The New Orleans lightweight tried repeatedly early in the fight to land a right-hand hook on Fisher's jaw for a knockout, but every time the Ohio scrapper would pass from the firing line like a shadow and the blow would pass safely by. The fight was by far the best battle of lightweights ever seen in this part of the country. (International News Service)
