Catalano was leading slightly when he landed a devastating right hand to the jaw of Villa, during an exchange along the ropes, which dropped him to the canvas. Villa rose at four, but was very unsteady and took a terrible pounding over the remainder of the round, but kept his feet. Catalano quickly hurt Villa again in the 7th round, and eventually sent him to the canvas again, at which point the referee intervened.
