Coggins who was cut over his right eye in the 8th round, needed a knockout to win going into the 14th round. Coggins opened with a savage attack in the 14th round, eventually driving Nibert to the canvas. Coggins, however, lost his head, and hit Nibert while he was on the canvas, costing himself a point. Coggins again came out hard in the 15th round, and sent Nibert down for a nine-count. Nibert attempted to run away, but was floored again with a right hand. Nibert rose, but he was staggering, and the bout was stopped.
