Feb. 16 (UPI) - Henry Cooper, the British and Empire heavyweight boxing champion, knocked out Jefferson Davis of Mobile, Ala., in 1 minute 40 seconds of the first round of their scheduled 10-round fight at the Civic Arena tonight. The 31-year-old champion ended the action with a left hook to the head. Davis had never been dropped in 34 previous fights. A capacity crowd of 3,500 turned out. For Cooper, who weighed 191 1/4 pounds, it was his 33d victory in 45 bouts. Davis weighed 201. He has won 26, lost 8 and had 1 draw.
