Patterson cut Murphy over his left eye in the 3rd round. In the 4th round, Murphy dropped Patterson with a left uppercut for a nine-count. After a brief rally from Patterson, a right cross from Murphy put Patterson down for an eight-count. The referee stopped the bout after Patterson staggered to his feet.
