Page collapsed in his corner, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and died the following night without regaining consciousness. Page was leading going into the 9th, when he was knocked down with a left hook, for a nine-count. Page rose wobbly, and ran into a right hand to the chin that put him down for a three-count. With the right side of his face swollen and battered, and his left eye cut, the referee stopped the bout.

Page was from Dallas, Texas, and had fought in Texas and California before coming east. His professional record was 13 wins and 5 losses, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, but more fights than that have been found.
