- Date: 1966-11-14
- Location: Boston Garden, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

- Judge: Albert Scioli 97-95
Pete Toro handed Ted Whitfield his second loss in as many weeks, a ten-round majority decision, in the card's preliminary “live” portion to the Muhammad Ali – Cleveland Williams close circuit heavyweight title fight. Both the 147 ½ pound Toro and the 147-pound Whitfield were extremely cautious through the first five rounds, much to the disgust of the crowd, which booed right from the start. Both judges, Art Kilty, and Alexander Scioli, gave the decision to Toro while referee Jim McCarron called it a draw. In the sixth round Whitfield came to life and landed his only solid punch of the bout, a strong right hand which temporarily slowed Toro. The Bronx battler recovered sufficiently to land the telling blow of the match just before the bell ending the sixth round. It was a right that stopped Whitfield in his tracks and only the bell saved Whitfield from a trip to the canvas. The fight slowed down through the last four rounds except for a brief flurry by Toro in the 10th that had Whitfield being moved freely around the ring. [Boston Globe, November 16, 1966]
