Hoshino knocked Black Joe down twice in the 2nd round, to pile up an early lead. Black Joe was able to make up the difference on the scorecards through the 8th round. Hoshino knocked Black Joe down at the end of 9th, and Black Joe appeared out as the count had reached when the bell rang. In the 10th, Hoshino scored three more knockdowns, before the bout was halted.
