Billy Joiner 178 lbs beat Marion Conner 176 lbs by TKO at 2:05 in round 5 of 6

  • Date: 1963-02-06
  • Location: Canton Auditorium, Canton, Ohio, USA
  • His home town seemed to be a jinx spot for light-heavyweight Marion Conners. In his six-bout career he has scored four knockouts away from home, but lost the two bouts in his own back yard. Turning the trick this show was Billy Joiner of Cincinnati, who gave the hard-punching Marion his second defeat, slamming him so severely that the bout was stopped in 2:05 of the fifth round. Marion weighed 176 to Joiner's 178. This lad Joiner is an excellent prospect. Eddie Schauer, The Ring, May 1963, page 56.
