Travie Davis beat Harry Dudley by PTS in round 6 of 6

  • Date: 1923-11-27
  • Location: Crystal Pool, Seattle, Washington, USA
  • Referee: Adolph Schacht

Davis scored four knockdowns during the first round: "A short right to the head sent Dudley spinning on his ear through the ropes. He balanced himself and came back on his feet. Before he could shake the birdies out of his upper story he was sent down twice in succession. The second time he took a nine count and his head cleared. Davis clipped him again as he arose and he kissed the canvas again for a short count. Then the bell rang. From then on to the finish, Dudley fought a heady careful fight. He outboxed the Everett favorite, and when Travie chose to slug with him, he outslugged him. Davis was like a man groping his way in the dark at times. Dudley had him dizzy trying to connect. Take out the first round and Dudley would have walked away with the verdict." Everett Daily Herald.
