Woods knocked down Smith in the 1st round with a short left. It appeared that due to his edge in speed over Smith, he became careless during much of the bout. In the 4th round, Smith knocked Woods down with a right hand to the chin, and staggered a few other times later in the fight. In spite of these moments, Woods was entitled to the verdict, according to the Seattle Times.
