Fox, reportedly the middleweight champion of the United States Navy's Pacific Fleet, broke his left arm in the second round but kept his injury from Gotchy. He stalled in the third, then found an opening in the fourth to send in a right hook to kayo his opponent. (However, the Tacoma Daily News reported that Gotchy's seconds stepped in to stop the bout.)
