Waldo Dors 148 lbs beat Erik Ness 146 lbs by KO in round 2 of 6

  • Date: 1964-06-18
  • Location: Nordstrandhallen, Oslo, Norway
  • Norwegian welterweight debutant Erik Næss was knocked out in the second round by Waldo Dors of Batavia/Netherlands. Næss was full of confidence in the first round, having some beginner's trouble with hitting the mark, but punching aggressively. Dors ( 5-1-0), 67 kilo, hit the newcomer with a left-right-left hook in the 2nd, which sent the unlucky Næss down for a full count.

This was to be Næss' only career fight. He had entered the ring with three broken ribs from hard sparring sessions. Dors had hit him with a body shot in the 1st. Naess' salary was 1000 Norwegian Kroner. ( You could buy a car for 12 000 Kroner in those years).

Dors returned to Oslo in 1967 to fight another Norwegian debutant, Harald Svendsen, this time Dors lost, on points in a 4-rounder.
