Paluso swept the last four rounds to take the decision, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Carlin had worked his way inside to take the 7th and 8th rounds, while doing effective work. Paluso pounded him inside in the 9th round, cutting Carlin and slowing him down and enabling him to outbox him over the remainder of the bout. Both boxers were cut over their eyes in the bout.
