"After the preliminary round, Davis settled down to business, sending in straight left jabs that seldom failed to connect with Madden's face; and Madden fairly ate up the punishment, taking it with a smile. At no time did the Everett lad cease leading, stepping in, frequently, with left uppercuts and following with right swings.... Referee Duncan McDonald - Tommy Burns did not officiate - gave Davis the decision." Everett Daily Herald.

This was part of the Labor Day celebrations. "During intermissions the fans were regaled by band music and the reading of telegrams from the big fight centers by Charley Manning." Joe St. Peter took some movies of the bouts. (St. Peter was the manager of the Rose Theater in Everett. Riverside Remembers: Stories of Everett's Greater Riverside Area (1987), p. 39.) Film of this particular bout still exists at the Everett Public Library's Northwest Room, with DVDs to be available later in 2010.

Robbin's Park, the town's baseball field, was located at Hewitt and Pacific. The grandstand backed onto Hewitt Avenue in the spot that today, as of 2010, is occupied by a Lowe's Home Improvement store. [1]
