Jose Basora 153 lbs beat Holman Williams 155 lbs by SD in round 10 of 10

The Philadelphia Inquirer felt this was a bad decision, sharing the same score of dissenting official Lou Tress. "With the exception of a slam-bang stretch in the second period the fast-moving shifty Negro (Williams) was the boss through the first rounds. He moved. He feinted. He stabbed with unerring lefts. He pounded the ribs, the stomach and the kidney sector. He bullied the tall, huskier Jose."

Williams fought with patches over both eyes. Basora knocked off both these patches, but cuts never opened from these. Williams was hurt along the ropes in the 8th round, and appeared very tired in the 9th round. Basora sent Williams' mouthpiece flying in the final round, and had him bleeding from the lips. Williams had swept the 3rd through 6th rounds, according to the Inquirer.
