Originally announced as a win for Powers, but when crowd protests the decision is reviewed and overturned a couple of days later, it was then taken to court, and Powers got the win back. Kpadenue then appealed, and as of July 2003 the case was still pending.

Judges innitially scored the fight:

• Clemont Ashong 77-75 (Kpadenue)
• Confident Hiagbe 75-79 (Powers)
• Emmanuel Brenya 74-78 (Powers)

Judge Brenya's scorecard was reversed days later in favor of Kpadenue before going to court and being changed to back in favor of Powers.
