After winning the first round with his jab, Bolden was driven to a corner to start the 2nd round by Fox. Fox eventually landed a left to the jaw, that dropped Bolden for the count. The result was booed heavily, as the Philadelphia Inquirer noted that the blow only appeared to graze Bolden. State Athletic Commission chairman Leon L. Rain stated that he would hold an inquiry, and was quoted as saying "Bolden will not get a penny. I'm convinced that he deliberately quit."
