Curtis Bruce, 175, Newark, NJ., won a ten round decision over Marion Conner, 176, Roxbury, in their 'rubber' match. Each had scored knockouts in their previous two fights. The bout was hardly started when Conner dropped Bruce with a right chop but Bruce weathered the storm. In the second, Conner was dropped by a right cross. Another short right by Bruce spilled Conner in the seventh. In between knockdowns both fighters rattled hard punches off each other with Bruce finishing the fight stronger and deserving of the unanimous decision.
