Turkey Thompson 159 lbs beat Big Boy Hogue 157 lbs by KO in round 3 of 10

Thompson scored two K.O. victories over Hogue, but Referee Benny Whitman reneged on the first one. Thompson had Hogue against the ropes, stunned from a terrific right to the chin in the first round. Hogue dropped his hands and started for his corner, in what appeared to be "retiring". Referee Whitman raised Thompson's hand and the fight seemed to be over, but out came Hogue from his corner, claiming that he thought the bell had rung, ending the round. So Whitman called Thompson back, explained the situation to the crowd and ordered the bout continued. Thompson floored Hogue twice in the second and finished him early in the third.
