Pirrone wobbled Joyce with a left hook high on the head in the 1st round. In the 2nd round, Pirrone scored five knockdowns, with the bell saving Joyce on the last of the knockdowns. Joyce came out wobbly to begin the 3rd round, and was sent through the ropes to the canvas with a right to chin. Joyce rose, but was in no condition to continue.
