Zurita won easily, according to the Los Angeles Daily News, taking eight out of ten rounds. Zurita, who switched stance frequently in the bout, left Espinosa puzzled, as he threw many punches that missed. Zurita knocked Espinosa donw for no-count in the 2nd round, and nearly floored him in the 8th round with two lefts; with the ropes saving Espinosa from a knockdown.
