Houck reportedly gave away eight inches in height and about twenty pounds in weight to Holland. The Lancaster New Era and Lancaster Daily Intelligencer had Houck winning the bout, with the Intelligencer only giving Holland one round. Houck was given trouble by the size and awkwardness of Holland, who was much slower than Houck. The Lancaster Daily News felt that the bout was a "hard draw".
