Wolfe dropped Cook for a nine-count in the 1st round, and was giving him a one-sided pounding, when he landed a right to Cook's protector. Cook nearly went down from the blow, and was examined by a ringside physician, who determined he had been hurt. The bout was awarded to Cook, with Wolfe not showing any objection.
