Chavez outboxed Takeshita early in the bout, before body punches from Takeshita led to two knockdowns in the 4th round. Takeshita continued to pound Chavez's body in the 5th round, at which point Chavez's broken nose began to become a serious problem. The bout was nearly stopped in the 5th, before the doctor intervened in the 6th.
