Grimard appearing in his first main event, got off to a fast start in the 1st two round. Goulart began to hurt Grimard in the 3rd round, and gave him a beating in the 4th round. In the 6th round Goulart dropped Grimard with a left hook to the jaw for an eight count. After the bout resumed, Goulart pummeled Grimard with nearly a dozen blows, before the bout was stopped.
