Deputy had a slim edge in the early rounds of the bout. The knockout came suddenly in the 5th round, when Lombardo exploded a right hand to the jaw of Deputy that sent him reeling to the canvas. Deputy rose momentarily, and collapsed again on his face, he rose to beat the count with the help of the ropes. Lombardo then met him with a barrage, which prompted Deputy's corner to enter the ring, though they were ignored briefly by the referee, the bout was ultimately stopped.
