Sullivan hurt Thomas with a left hook in the 2nd round. A minute into the 3rd round, Thomas was in bad shape, a left hook to the jaw sent him into his corner, where he appeared completely helpless, the referee then intervened.
This bout was rematch of their first meeting 13 years earlier in Los Angeles.
