Keeny Teran, baby-faced bantam bomber, had all but clinched the “Preliminary Fighter of the Year” award after racking up a unanimous six-round decision over Bobby Garza in the windup bout of Jimmy Carter-Art Aragon title card at the Olympic. The hard-hitting Teran was held even by the more experienced Garza for the first three rounds, but in the fourth, Keeny staggered him to turn the tide of battle. Garza was buffeted a bit in the fifth, and the sixth again was staggered by a right to the head. Both fighters weighed 117 pounds.
