Payan knocked Sorio down for counts of five and six in the 2nd round. In the 6th round, Payan hurt Sorio with a left hook to the liver. Sorio began to fall to the canvas, and his right foot became caught in the canvas, causing him to injure his ankle in the fall. After one failed attempt to rise, Sorio signaled to the referee that he could not continue.
