Kocahn knocked Sullivan down in the 3rd round with a left hook, for a six-count. Sullivan was also down in the 5th round, for a four-count, on a similar punch. Sullivan rallied to wear down Kochan, and the bout was stopped with Kocahn reeling and trying to avoid Sullivan's attack. The Boston Herald felt that Sullivan had won six of the nine rounds that were fought.
