Jarecki was floored a few seconds into the bout by a right hand to the solar plexus. After a few seconds of mixing in the center of the ring, Jarecki was floored for a longer count by the same punch. Upon rising, Jarecki went into retreat as Hankinson targeted his vulnerable area, and eventually landed another right hand to the body that floored Jarecki again. Jarecki went through the ropes this time, and the bout was stopped.
